Victoria Beckham spices up Paris Fashion Week

Victoria Beckham, who has won praises in London and New York, takes her debut at Paris Fashion Week to the top of the luxury world. It opens Monday.

It’s the arrival a very beautiful label. “We rejoice that Victoria Beckham has joined us,” Pascal Morand (head of the French Federation for Haute Couture and Fashion, FHCM) said.

The Brit, 48, joins 104 other labels in the official line up for the pret-a–porter spring-summer Paris shows — the most important week in fashion’s calendar.

A few brands have reverted to the online presentation that was the norm during the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, most big brands are back on the runway, including Dior and Chanel, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Stella McCartney, Issey Mikae, and emerging brands like Weinsanto.

Beckham presented her first New York Fashion Show in 2008, and has remained there ever since.

Anna Wintour, Vogue’s supremo, said that Beckham should not be underestimated when she started out. And indeed, the former Spice Girl has proven to be more than a celebrity hobbyist.

Beckham’s company, despite having over 250 outlets around the globe for her clothes and 30 million followers on Instagram, has never been able to make a profit despite all of this.

She has hired top French talent to help turn around the situation, including Ralph Toledano, former president of FHCM, and Marie Leblanc de Reynies (formerly head buyer at Paris’ department store Printemps), as chairman.

Victoria is not from the fashion industry. Toledano said that Victoria was a hard worker and had to organize and maintain order in the house. This is what she did for the past four-years.

The team is hopeful to make a profit in the next months after launching a successful cosmetics line in 2019.

Toledano stated, “We have a strategy and combined two pret-a–porter lines. Now it’s time for the big league.”

This is Paris Fashion Week where Beckham will be presenting on Friday — making her the most important and scrutinised industry event.

Toledano said that although she is a bit intimidated, she is a very humble person.

This is a sign that traditional fashion events are still important, even though some labels have departed from the rigid routine of the official calendar.
